We were blessed to have Dennis Irwin and Jack
Gartner with us September 9th – 15th from “Wings of
Faith” in Ocala, Florida. The main purpose of their coming was to build a
stairway on the outside of the foundation building to the room that was
constructed last year. However, God used these 2 men far more than with
construction. Prior to their arrival we had explained to them that there was a
great need for them to minister to the older youth in Ferma Larga and
Ferma Cojocna. We felt led to make that top priority. So even though the
flight to Romania the day before was exhausting, the men decided to get up
bright and early Saturday morning and quickly pour the cement slabs for Monday’s
work on the stairs. Then off the JOY van headed to Ferma Larga. Dennis and Jack
broke the ice with the young people by drawing the guys into a game of American
football. These young men had never played football American style, but Dennis
and Jack plunged right in and began to teach them the sport while Corina tried
to translate. It was hilarious! Nevertheless, God used this game to open up
tremendous opportunities to minister the Word of God. Then of course, there were
the girls. We had made a make-do volleyball net from old army undershirts from
the humanitarian building and attached it to two metal poles. Voila
volleyball!
As the girls strolled in to watch the action they were drawn into the game and
joined in the fun. What was astounding was to see Ms. Lyn in the midst of the
game. She fumbled and stumbled (no glasses) trying to make a hit. However,
amazingly she got in some good hits and scored some points for her team. (You
go, Ms. Lyn, you still can play the game!) The day was great fun but then it
came time for the “TRUTH” to be heard. Since the purchase of the building in
Ferma Larga has not been finalized, once again we had to resort to setting up
our makeshift church on top of the hill and everyone sat down on a rock or the
ground to hear the message that God had placed upon Dennis’ heart. Jack gave his
testimony of how God had worked in his life by healing him from cancer and
radically changing his life and Dennis closed with a challenge to the young men
and ladies regarding their life in Jesus. Indeed it was a Word ordered
specifically for the day and we truly could see that God had sent these two men
to Cluj-Napoca, Romania for such a time as this. An altar call was given and 12
young men and ladies came forward for prayer or to receive Jesus as Lord.
On Sunday, Dennis ministered a message in a village church of
Aghires and once again it was obvious that he had a Word for the church that
day. His message on “love” ministered to the hearts of those attending. It was
obvious that the Word was reaching deep. Heads lowered and tears were being
wiped from their eyes. God was using Dennis’ words to minister to the people.
Afterward several people came up to tell us how the message had touched them.
God works in such awesome ways. We never know where He might choose to send us
to minister HIS Word but we must always be prepared. Definitely, this month we
have seen how we must be prepared in season and out of season. 2 Timothy 4: 2;
says it all, “Herald {and} preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand
by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or
unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or
unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their
lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking {and} correcting, warning {and}
urging {and} encouraging them, being unflagging {and} inexhaustible in patience
and teaching.” (AMP. Bible)
On Monday morning they were up and at’em to get started on the
stairs project at the foundation. We were off very early to the lumberyards to
purchase lumber, then off to the hardware stores to try to locate the other
necessary materials. However, it wasn’t long into the purchasing trip that I
heard
Dennis say, “Oh well, now off to store number 3! What do we think we can find
there?”
It is always exciting
to me to take Americans shopping for construction materials here in Romania and
watch them come to realize that it is altogether another world in America where
“one store has it all.” Of course these 2 men soon learned that purchasing
materials in a foreign country in quite another thing. It took a while but then
I could definitely see that their mindset had begun to change and that they were
coming to realize that they would have to adjust to what they did have and not
focus on what they didn’t have. It came down to doing the best with what was
available and finishing the task. Was it the lumberyard experiences of bartering
with
all those men for the right
prices? Or was it the fact that none of the lumber measured the same size?
Or could it have been that after going to 3 hardware stores they still were
unable to find all the materials they needed?
Well,
despite all the setbacks and difficulties in locating the right materials, these
2 men did a super-duper job in building the stairs! We thank you, Dennis and
Jack, for your willingness to serve God whether in season or out of season.
Great job men, both spiritually and materially speaking!
Copiii Regului:
Copiii Regelui completed its 6th year of
children’s programs in Romania on September 2nd. We had a wonderful
time at our year-end picnic - hot dogs, chips, cookies, hmm hmm good. Two
children earned bicycles by memorizing scripture, Names of Jesus, and program
rules. Lots of kids earned certificates for perfect attendance. Indeed it was a
super Friday!!! Games, songs, stories, flag waving, and food! Now that summer is
over there is a little time to look back over the summer and evaluate this
year’s progress. First, let me say, that this summer’s children’s program could
not have even gotten off the ground if it had not been for children’s ministry
support. Thank you College and Career Class of First Assembly, Clanton, Alabama.
Thank you Little Wings of Faith Fellowship of Ocala, Florida. Thank you, prayer
warriors and anonymous supporters. Thank you all! We at Copiii Regelui
believe that the “child is the father of the man”. We realize that if we are to
see a Joshua Generation of young men and women, we must start with the very
young and feed character to our children – starve out worldly attitudes and
infuse our children with Godly principles of J.O.Y. (Jesus, First; Others,
Second; You, Last). Copiii Regelui programs focus on Jesus. We
know that if we lift Jesus up, He will draw all men, women, and children to Him
and He will affect the change in their lives.
Because of You:
Again we want to thank all of you for your prayers and
financial support to this ministry. We want you to know that because of your
faithfulness many lives have been blessed. Because of you we are able to
minister one-on-one to those who come to our door for help in meeting their
personal needs. Because of you and your monthly support many elderly receive
medical and financial assistance and emotional support. Because of you we can
respond to their petitions for help. They come with sincere and humble hearts
often breaking down crying when they find someone who is willing to listen and
help. They come because they have no other choice or because a doctor in the
area has heard about the foundation and referred them to us. Because of you and
your gifts of financial support lives are being touched, not only by helping
with their basic needs but also by ministering with prayer and encouragement.
Because of you lives have been made a little lighter this month. Yes, it is
because of you and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your
faithfulness to give. You are the hands extended to the hurting in Romania.
Matt. 25:37-40; “Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you
hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see
you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we
see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, “I tell you
the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you
did to me.” (NIV)
God bless you all!
Sincerely,
Freddy and Rita
