 November 2005

FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, we signed the contract on the building. Ever since Oct. 2004 we have been pursuing the purchase of the building in Ferma Larga. On Oct. 19th, 2005 we signed the contract. It has been a long haul and we have had to fight with all our might and proclaim the power of God’s Word over the commission that was in charge and wanted to try to get more from the deal than what was agreed on at the start of the process. But through God’s all- powerful hand all turned out for HIS glory. If we can get it cleaned out and the windows boarded up for the winter we will have it ready to begin work next year. We are in hopes that we can have some churches who will give of their time and resources to help us restore the building and make it ready to be used as a church.

Work has begun and just cleaning out the building is enough to force everyone to run the other way. Tons of old hay were strewn throughout the building, along with seeds, dead rats, broken glass and toilets, torn-up and shredded mattresses, rusty old bed frames, not to mention the human waste that was all through the building. It wasn’t just a little stuff here and there but stacked up to the windows in most of the rooms. In fact, we ladies were a little afraid to plow through that stuff for not knowing what was buried underneath. However, we went in armed with shovels, hoes, rakes, saws, hammers, not to mention our protective gear of rubber gloves, safety glasses or sunglasses, face masks, head coverings and hats and our handy-dandy sanitizer gel. We were ready!  I know that I dreaded the moment we began cleaning. I did not know about the others but I was sure they too were just as reluctant as I was. However, no one uttered a word because we all knew that God had assigned us the task so in we went with determination that we would complete the job. However, God is always faithful to His children whose hearts are willing. Not long after unloading the van a village lady came and asked if she could help us. I explained to her how dirty the job would be and asked what she would charge.  She hesitated at first but then responded that she just needed enough to purchase some bread and a few other things to eat. Later I was reminded that this weekend is the Romanian

Thanksgiving so extra food was needed for their celebration.  She needed to work to get the extra money to purchase the special food.  God pressed my heart to say “yes” to her offer. There truly is no way for them to make money on the farm in the winter and their crops have not done well this year with all the rain.  Glory, she was a worker! Then 4 men came up and asked if we needed help.  They gathered up their pitchforks and shovels and dove right into the rooms piled high with hay and seeds.  A tractor and trailer were hired to haul everything off and in only one day, the building looked so much better.  Praise Jesus for His faithfulness and for the people who were willing to help.  But there is still so much more work yet to be done!

Help is needed:  In 2006 we are in need of loads of construction workers to help remodel the building. God has assigned us a task of planting the church and now we are in need of workers.  The harvest is ready and plentiful. We also need financial help with funds to purchase the material. Please search your hearts and see if there is anyway you could help in these areas. Also, we need prayer warriors that will intercede for laborers to sow the seed to prepare the harvest for HIS kingdom.

 Christmas in Romania:

We are pleased to have Diane Smoot with us again Dec. 6th-14th for her annual “Christmas in Romania.” She and her team members are scheduled for unique tasks this year. They will minister in a handicapped center, Manny’s school, an elderly center, and hold a 2-day ministry conference in Ferma Larga in the building for the ladies, the men, and the children. This is the first time ever that we have planned to have three sessions at one time. But we feel that God has ordered this teaching and has allowed the building to come just in time. Of course, it will still be the old run-down building with no windows, but we intend to have the windows boarded up to keep out the cold and hopefully purchase some wood heaters for a few rooms. So pray for their time with us and pray that we get the building cleaned and everything in order. Most of all, pray for souls to be saved during this time.

 Our Thanks:

Some plant, some water, but God makes it grow. (1 Cor. 3:6) That’s what I think of when I think of all of you. YOU have been the planters of the seed each month through your financial support. You have faithfully given so that we can continue in the task God has assigned. Without your financial help none of this work could ever have been accomplished. Paul said, “What after all is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe-as the Lord has assigned to each a task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who makes things grow.” (1 Cor. 3:5-7 NIV) Thank you all for your help so that we all can see God’s work in His kingdom grow. Your financial support is most appreciated.

Yours in Christ,

Freddy and Rita
