Back to NEWSLETTER Page June 2002 A special thanks to Pastor Gene Throop for his kindness last month informing you of what happened with the police. I was thinking the other day that I have only been back in Romania since April 10th, but it seems like I have been here for months. I cannot believe all that has happened in such a short time but I thank my God that he has proven Himself faithful. My heart was pressed by the Holy Spirit the whole time I was in the States to study Luke and Acts. Many of you when I spoke in your churches heard me say that God would not let me do any other study. The Holy Spirit has led me to see so many revelations from those two books. At the time God was repeatedly saying, “Study Rita.” I could not understand why. But I would hear God say, “Pay attention to what I am trying to teach you.” I understand now much more clearly. God was teaching me about the persecution of the early Christian church so that I would know how they responded to such great spiritual attacks. As I read, I began to notice how on every corner they were framed for their witness of the message of Jesus Christ. I have seen in studying these books that many times the apostles would refer back to letters that had been written so that they could clear up many misunderstandings. Going through all this with the police I have seen how so many of our documents has proven to verify the truth and attest to our integrity. Now I understand more why the early apostles could say, “We count it all joy to go through difficult trials and tribulations.” Yet, I have not faced anything compared to the apostles. In studying Acts I could not help but see that the joy of the Lord was ever present upon them. I know now why Paul could say, “We press forward in the Mighty Name of Jesus.” Jesus is faithful, He looks after us each day, and we are to learn daily how to become more faithful to Him and His Will.Update: On May 22, an American FBI agent (Gabrielle Berger), Lt. Col. Sasalovici (the one who interrogated me for hrs.), and his assistant showed up at our door. The FBI agent was looking for an American lady who has been missing since 1999 and had been seen in the Cluj area at one time. So the Lt. Col. Sasalovici decided to bring this FBI personal here questioning us of her where-a-bouts. It "just so happened" that the Cluj police officers wanted to see papers on the babies while they were here! Apparently, the agent knew nothing about our situation and was unaware that I had been questioned! Good ole Lt. Col. Sasalovici had used the agent to get on Calea property! He looked surprised when I told him that I had reported him to the American Embassy. Anyway, I did not allow them to see anything! I then began to explain to the FBI agent as to why I did not want them on our property and why I wasn’t responding very kindly and she told me not to talk to him without an attorney and a professional translator! She also told us to contact the Embassy here again. We are documenting each visit to forward to the Consul. Please continue to pray for us. Also, pray for the protection of the babies and their parents. However, be in prayer also for the salvation of these police officers! They really need the LORD! Sasalovici was not sure how to react when I told him that we were honoring his request and were praying for him EVERY day! Actually calling his name before the Lord! Again, I want to thank you for being so faithful to lift us up in prayer. We know OUR LORD is in control of EVERY situation! WORK: Summer Teams: Our summer work teams have started work full force. Mr. Cyril Englert from Indiana and the Romanian crew were here eager to begin work May 20th. I saw immediately that Mr. Cyril really knows his work! They began by taking down the old roof and then reshaping the roof with new beams. They all have been working very hard and it reminds me of all those trips Freddy and I used to take with the "Baptist Builders." I think the Romanians are quite amazed to see all the work go so fast. However, be in prayer for our finances. We have already exceeded our budget for the roof project by $700.00. My only choice was to take money from our regular ministry operating funds. However, as you know, when you get into a project there is no stopping. Therefore, I trust God to provide. The calculations were missed by around 500 meters so more lumber and tiles were needed. In addition, we have already started work for the next team that will complete the nursery and the bathroom. We have already begun preliminary work on the bathroom, but had forgotten the Romanian way of doing things. A wall is torn down and along come flying particles of concrete, cement, and var. The noise around here has totally upset the babies’ routine. With all the saws, hammers, and boards breaking through walls, they have to play totally inside. They cannot sleep. People are up and down the stairs, in and out of doors. This gives them a very good reason to be upset. It was disturbing to me when all a sudden there was this big hole in the kitchen wall. Yet, we could not help but laugh because in Romania you learn to adjust. Erin, Barbara, and Ms. Lyn have been the cooks and runners for almost everything. They are all real troopers when it comes to the different work assignments. Some days we are all lifting tiles from the truck and other days lifting the tiles onto the house. Barbara, of course, isn’t afraid of anything and it wasn’t long before she was found up on the roof helping. With the shortage of men here, we women had to pitch in. In order for the work to continue you have to do what it takes. (Note: You know that we have really needed extra help when we have the transition girls on ladders lifting tiles.) Prayer: We ask that you continue to pray for the work here and the workers who are faithfully doing everything it takes to get the job done. Continue to prayer with us about the police situation that hopefully will soon pass and these babies can be placed in Barbara’s care. I ask that you will be more prayerful for all the outreaches that we will be involved in this summer and that God will direct our steps. I am asking that you pray for a greater planting of the gospel of Jesus Christ this summer. We realize that these battles have been to distract and discourage us from seeding deeper this year. We are fighting not against man but against principalities and powers that are against deliverance of spiritual bondage and oppression. Oh yes, satan will even use police inquires. Nevertheless, he knows he is losing Romanian ground with each new ministry outreach we do. Souls are coming to know Jesus. Satan has launched this attack to try and stop the message of Jesus from going forth. We will not surrender! THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S! I would like you to pray for the other teams scheduled this year. June 16–23: Networking Limited building team from Ocala, Fl. July 10-20: New Frontiers: Dr. Tonya along with other medical helpers to take medical clinics into the villages. July 21-26: Don Thronburg Alabama group from Mobile will be with us as volunteers. Aug. 5-12: Larry and Sarah Knootz will be here ministering medically in the Salaj county area. You can see that we have a full schedule this summer. We thank you for your continued support. You are a blessing to us more everyday. God has pressed our hearts to pray more for you this year because it is with your seed that the work gets accomplished. I know that without you we could not continue to increase into different areas with the message of Jesus. Thank you for your faithfulness! Yours in Christ, Freddy and Rita McClure
