Back to NEWSLETTER Page July 2002 Construction Team # 2:It seems as if time is just quickly passing by! Construction Team # 2 had only 5 days to accomplish installing 2 bathrooms (completely), running all plumbing and connecting a sink, and finishing the nursery. In the beginning they were a little overwhelmed with the Romanian way of doing everything but nothing stopped this group…not even breaking down concrete walls to get the job done. At the end of day one, almost all pipes had been set in place. Man! Did these guys ever work fast, faster than this Alabama mind could think! This team wanted no breaks. While glue, cement, and other things were in the process of drying, the ladies would storm down to the humanitarian room to organize the clothing. They began by building some shelves and then would unload the clothes onto the shelves. Next, you would find them locked up in the nursery area with a sign on door “No Calea Staff beyond this door”. What a wonderful spirit they all had as they worked. As I would talk with them day after day I could see that they were tired from the long trip over and I knew that the work in itself was tremendously hard and tiring. Yet, they all would say, “What an honor to be serving Jesus this way!” Team members: I just want to let you know that we still do not know quite how to act not having to wait hours for a bathroom break while Erin lingers in her hot bath every night. For a year, we all would have to stand in line because we knew it would be the next day before Erin would come out. However, praise God now because of your faithfulness we feel more like families back home. I would have placed pictures of the beautiful finished work but my camera is broken so you all just have to imagine the beauty of it all. Update: We are still having difficultly with the police! Mr. Sasolovci called the “Cluj Children's Protection” of Cluj and they came out Monday questioning us. Nevertheless, God is always one step ahead of them, they did not show up until after the team had finished the nursery and everything looking in order to house children. We had 2 days to get together all the legal papers of the foundation, all financial records, and all donations/outreaches and have them in their office. I was questioned on Thursday, June 27 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. and they released us after finding nothing to use against us since we had papers to substantiate everything.. We had all approvals and everything in order! They even went as far as to tell me that if I minister to families in villages by way of food/clothing that I had to bring names of everyone into their office beforehand so that they would be informed of whom we was ministering to. I told them, "No, that in the Romanian law it did not state that I had to work through the ‘Children's Protection’ before I could go into a village. I told them my job, as a foundation was to keep records of the families we ministered to and get their signatures for all donations but I did not have to seek their approvals. I told them that all approvals to minister to families in villages were through the "Health Department" not through them. I let them know that when I needed those approvals I asked for them. And also, that I go before each mayor and doctor of every village and that was all that is required of me. It has been a tough year fighting! I feel I have fought with everything that I have, spiritually and physically, but God has been faithful and given me the boldness to speak firmly with them and to stand up for HIS WORK. There have been major lies from neighbors in Zalau. The people here cannot understand why anyone would go out of their way to provide for two gypsy babies from the dump. Also since last month’s newsletter I learned of a news broadcast about our foundation. We never watch the Romanian T.V. station because of so much trash shown on it, so we never see their news. However, I learned through other Romanians who had seen it. A local television station had shown pictures of Corina, Erin and me and stated that we were from America and we were suspected of buying babies and selling their body parts. Well, in the natural, my spirit was feeling all sorts of things. I was feeling heartbroken, anger, revenge, and all sorts of things that the enemy would want me to feel. I notified the U.S Embassy once again and faxed a document of all that had been discussed with my meetings with the local police. They told me I could sue this T.V. station. Everyone was saying, “Go after them. You could get enough money to buy 3 houses, “ they said; “ don’t let them get away with this.” However, in the night I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Don’t act as the world would. The world would sue to get even, but you or not of the world.” I then saw through the Spirit that I would be playing into the trap of what the police would have wanted. Then the next day, talking with my lawyer, she told me that if I chose to sue that it would give the police the right in move in and search everything without having to file any criminal charge. You bet I was praising God for His Holy Spirit leading in what not to do. He has given me peace through it all and given me verses that quiet my spirit. Ps. 120:1-2; “I call on the Lord in my distress and He answers me. Save me, O Lord from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.” Ps. 121: 1-2; “I lift my eyes to the hills where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord the Maker of heaven and earth.”When we know that God is on our side, we have nothing to fear. I know that God must be going to do a mighty work through Calea this year and we are going to see the Awesome Hand of God just as the Israelites experienced. Why? Because the enemy is raging on every hand! Time is drawing near for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ and satan knows that his time is limited so he storms to stop the gospel of Jesus from going into villages and lives being touched through the blood of Jesus! However, this has caused us to press harder toward that mark of our high calling and to press harder through the weapon of prayer against the strongholds, powers and the spirit forces of wickedness. Coming up: July 10-20 New Frontiers from Clearwater FL are scheduled for a medical outreach. However, we are having difficulties this year getting the approvals. There is a new law in Romania that states that we as a foundation have to work under a pharmacy. I thought and thought what can I do? Then I realized that, the health department had the pharmacy and to go seek approvals from them and then fax Bucharest again for the final approval. The health department was very nice and in 3 days, we had the approval with nothing ever said about a new law in Romania. However, on Monday, July 1, when we faxed Bucharest again, we were told this time that as a foundation we could not receive medicines that we would have to be approved as a pharmacy. This has never happened before in all the years we have been working with medical outreaches. This tells me much is going on in the heavenlies. Last year one of the local mayors received Jesus as Savior. And I’m sure that this year the enemy would not want the lives of so many effected with the gospel of Jesus. Pray with us as we continue to seek God for these scheduled outreaches. Our back-up plan is that we WILL NOT STOP. If medicines cannot be ministered unto these villages that God has led us to, then we have decided to press on and boldly proclaim the gospel of Christ. It is the year of teaching ACTS! This truly is the year of ACTS in many ways. The apostles experienced tremendous ridicule for their faith. We too feel this same ridicule everyday. Pray for the country of Romania. Please do not forget to pray for the leaders and police officers. Van: We had a van given to us. We were so excited - a van to go into the village of Ferma Larga with the children’s program. With Ole Bessie having died on us in December, and with no hope of getting the parts to fix her, we were praying God, “We need transportation!” Well, when a local pastor said he had an old van he would give us, we all were praising God. Strange thing I noticed when he brought us the van, Lyn said, “Pastor I must pray a return blessing upon you. He hesitated but then allowed it to be prayed.” Suddenly he hurried out! I told Lyn, “It seems strange what could be so wrong with this van.” It seemed to look good, the motor ran good. I thought we need to just Praise God! However, the opportunity came when we went to transfer the papers and get a new tag. Well! I know now why he ran! It is virtually impossible to register this van! We cannot have the papers changed into our name because there is a new law. In addition, the pastor never registered the van, which means that we would have to pay custom tax on it. When I went to check on the price of the tax it totaled $3,000.00 dollars. The van is an old VW 1987 model and is not worth that much. However, that is not all! I was then told that even if we paid the custom tax, we would not be able to register the van because the new law states that only vehicles 2 years old can be registered. WOW! We could not help but laugh and laugh because we know that somewhere there is a van for us. Lyn, says, “God I sowed my seed before I left America by giving my van away. I will not stop believing that my seed will come to completion.” By faith, we at Calea believe God will work to bring the needed transportation and will stop the forces of our enemy from overriding the work of Jesus in Romania.Closing: Pray with us for all the above: We are in much need of your prayers every day. Please do not forget to pray for the babies (Alexandra, Sarah, Manny). Thank you for your faithfulness! GOD BLESS YOU ALL! Yours in Christ, Freddy and Rita |
