February 2004

Calea Goals:

God has placed in our hearts so many new goals in ministry for 2004. I have found myself so excited about all the things that God is doing that I haven’t really stopped to consider whether or not we will have the manpower to get those tasks accomplished. Before leaving Romania I met with Calea staff and board members to go over all the things that we accomplished in 2003 and to share the Foundation’s vision for the forthcoming year. During that meeting I stressed that we must fully yield ourselves to the plans of God so that we will be found faithful in all HIS work. Our goals are large and I must admit I had not realized how large until recently when a person came up to me and said, “You have lots on your plate. I believe it can happen but it sounds like it will take 3 years to complete all that work.” After that conversation I went home and immediately pulled out all my notes to reread the goals that God had placed on my heart for 2004. I realized that I had been seeing the projects through the eyes of faith and had not stopped to think how big the projects really seemed in the eyes and minds of other people. As I sat and read over the projects, I began to see that the completion of those projects would indeed take lots of work, lots of materials, and lots of workers. I thought, “God, I never saw this as being so much until now.” I found myself beginning to think that there was no way that all this could take place this year. For the first time since I had written down my heart’s goals for 2004, I was seeing them in the natural. In the natural things look impossible. In the natural God-size tasks suddenly become overwhelming. Every year I write down on paper what I feel God has placed on my heart to work towards during that year. I do this so that I can place those goals in my hands each day and pray over them and welcome God’s presence to work as He sees fit. To be sure, my heart has already been moved toward these projects; still I must know that they are not my will but GOD’S WILL. In doing this over the years I have seen that some projects get done faster than others; but at the same time, I have witnessed all the yearly goals being accomplished in due time and even others being added.

So what is the WILL OF GOD for Calea this year? I believe the will of God for Calea is to continue steadfast in the work of God and continue to have a greater vision than we could ever think, ask, or hope for. I believe that HE desires that our minds and hearts be fully focused upon HIM and what HIS VISION is for ministry this year. I do not want to be doing my desire. Rather, my heart is to do the work and Will of God. That is why it is so important to me to refocus my thoughts and actions afresh and anew in God each day. To keep His vision constantly before me! The Word of God says in, Prov. 29: 18; “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” After reading all my notes or goals again that night I made a concerted decision that I was going to believe God for the impossible. His Word says in Matt. 7:7; “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” I believe that God can and will do far more than I can ever think, ask, or hope for. Furthermore, I believe I must stir up the faith within me to not see the impossible but to see through eyes of faith that which is possible. However, I do know that this year’s projects will not nor cannot get accomplished any other way than by the Spirit of God speaking them into existence. So I have chosen to ask that you as our prayer partners begin to pray with us at Calea for His Divine work to be accomplished. We have a need for volunteers to come and work with us; we have a need of teams coming to help in construction projects; we have a need of more Bibles and more finances to get all His work accomplished. The more people that are helping in the Kingdom work, the more roads we can travel down. Would you pray with us? I believe these aren’t goals that are impossible; rather they can become possible when we pray. So I am asking that you all pray with us that this year Calea will be more effective in the work God has called us to and that the goals of this year will come about, as HE so desires.

 Goals for 2004

  1. Increasing the distribution of the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that souls will be added to the Kingdom daily, like in the time of the early Church.

  2. Adoption of Alexandra and Sarah.

  3. Organizing and facilitating ministry teams and construction teams for ministry.

  4. Establish a volunteer program. (2, 6, or 12 months)

  5. Building a foster care facility in the community of Ileanda.

  6. Repairing more roofs for families in need.

  7. Distributing larger amounts of humanitarian aid. (First shipment of medical equipment is due to arrive in February.)

  8. Constructing a larger humanitarian building at the Foundation.

  9. Remodeling to construct a pharmaceutical deposit and hire a pharmacist.

Hab. 2: 3; “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

Witnessing God’s Miracles:

I have had the honor of witnessing major miracles in the last few years that we have been on the mission field. I have seen God take the impossible and turn it around to show HIS glory. I have seen HIM provide materials for construction projects and miraculously send needed funds into our account when it was setting on empty. I have seen HIM bring pastors to Romania to minister HIS WORD at the right moment when God knew that souls were ripe for harvesting. I have seen governmental doors open suddenly, bureaucratic procedures change after only a few days of people praying, and new laws issued or interpreted differently so that we could get visas. I have seen HIS hands bring forth deliverance in the face of false accusations. I have seen the healing power of God root out that life-threatening word called “cancer” and restore a brand new life. I have seen adult lives restored from a life of drunkenness when listening to the children’s program messages. I have seen teenage girls who were turned out of orphanages experience a new hope through individuals sharing God's love. I have seen the lives of babies literally rescued from death’s door and placed in a warm and loving environment. I have seen the lives of many who were dying and going to hell suddenly reborn and grafted into the Kingdom of God. Just in 2003: I have seen marriages restored. I have seen God miraculously use ladies to remodel our house and I have seen heart-felt desires become a reality as many individual supporters gave so that roofs could be remodeled in Ileanda. I have seen God’s handy-work as He provided us with a new van for traveling while in the States to speaking engagements. I have seen the mighty hand of HIS provision as we built the transitioning room on foundation property. I have seen how HE has opened major doors for humanitarian aid. I could go on and on and I am certain that many of you have witnessed similar miracles too in your own lives. I pray that we will never forget that God desires for us to always give HIM praise for what HE has done for us. Also, I pray that we never forget that HE desires to use us to win the lost at any cost, which is the greatest of all miracles. I pray that we at Calea Adevarului will experience increase in winning the lost this year. No expense is too great when placed alongside a life that has not been born again.

I have been told many times that we sacrifice a lot for God in what we do by leaving family and friends behind. No, not at all! For I love each and every moment when I am in the perfect will of God. Blessings rest there, miracles rest there, and lives become changed there.

Copiii Regelui: By Lyn Dennis

“Suffer the little children to come unto Me and forbid them not…for such is the Kingdom of God…”Praise God for newly opened doors! Copiii Regelui has been very busy this fall and winter. During what used to be our preparation time for the coming Spring and Summer, the program has taken a new direction. We were invited to speak in November to Sunday School teachers and children’s ministry workers from two local Pentecostal fellowships and give them some pointers on presenting material. Also since November we have been assisting Eclesia Church in restructuring their Kids’ Club, which originally met only once a month. Beginning February 7th they will be providing two kids’ programs a month and will be developing a database of the children that are coming, along with their addresses and birthdays. Copiii Regelui’s focus has been to stress that Kids’ Club is ministry not just a “Sunshine Factory” experience. As children’s ministry leaders we need to be aware of the needs, fears, and hopes of our children. We have had the opportunity to witness first-hand their transformation and are sure that this program will definitely be instrumental in the growth of the church by bringing in kids who do not attend church regularly and even their families. Keep us in your prayers, we want only to follow God’s leading. Copiii Regelui will be returning to Ferma Larga this June for another 12-week program. We are very excited about what God is doing here in Romania.

Zalau Office Engages In Sharing God’s WORD: By Barbara Caver

I had prayed and prayed that the girls and I would be able to be in Alabama in 2003.  Apparently God needed us to stay here and carry on His work.  Alexandra, Sarah, and I are giving out large print Bibles with tracts here in Zalau.  We've given out about 150 so far.  People here seem to be excited to have the Bibles.  I've never advertised that we have these Bibles, but word has certainly spread.  Just before Christmas, a lady who sells shoes at the open market asked me for one.  Then an older lady stopped me in the freezing cold at the bus stop one Sunday to ask me for one.  And another lady from a nearby village stopped by to get one while she was in town for the day.  I couldn't help but wonder how many people in the United States would be so anxious to have a Bible?  Pray that God's Word will change lives here in Zalau.

Thank you so much:

Thank you all for your faithfulness to serve with us in ministry. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated each and every month as we continue to reach the lost and hurting of Romania.

v     We will be traveling to Indiana Feb. 7, for Calvary Ministries’ annual board meeting. Pray for safety! Also, we are taking speaking engagements now. If any of you are interested in the work in Romania, please feel free to call us at 205-755-4000.

Yours in Christ,

Freddy and Rita
